Managing Anxiety: Facing Your Fears – Oshawa
January 14 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm$1500
Do worried thoughts keep your child up at night? Does your child express a lot of fears?
Does worry or anxiety get in the way of your child fully functioning in school, community or home-based activities; or of doing activities they would really enjoy? Has your child received a diagnosis of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Separation Anxiety Disorder or Specific Phobia and you’re not sure how to help him/her with their specific symptoms?
Facing Your Fears (FYF) is a 14-week group service aimed at providing the skills that children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder need to manage anxiety and participate more fully in their daily lives.
Facing Your Fears is based on more than 13 years of research and uses cognitive behavioural principles to assist children and youth age 8-11:
• Identify their fears;
• develop coping strategies; and
• and practice “facing their fears” with guidance and support from group facilitators.
Parent participation is a vital component of the Facing Your Fears program and allows for the generalization of concepts and strategies learned in group to be implemented at home.
