Student Placements
Are you a student passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with autism? Kinark Autism Services invites enthusiastic and dedicated students to complete their placement with us and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of autism services.
Through our student placement opportunities, you’ll become part of a diverse and dynamic team committed to creating positive outcomes for children, youth, and families. While completing your student placement at Kinark, you will be supporting in direct service delivery and administrative tasks to support our team of dedicated professionals. Your work will play a vital role in the success of our programs and the individuals we serve.
We are currently accepting student placements across our ABA Centres in York, Simcoe, and Durham Regions in Behaviour Science or related programs.
Current Opportunities
ABA Centre Students
Immerse yourself in the world of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) by completing your placement at one of our six (6) ABA Centers. As an ABA Centre volunteer, you will work closely with our experienced professionals to support children and youth with autism in their unique learning journeys. Your dedication and enthusiasm can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Shadowing and reverse shadowing opportunities
- Data collection
- Creating and assembling resources for clients
- Helping supervise outdoor play time
- Disinfecting toys and surfaces
- Assisting with snack time, including clean up
Entry to School (ETS) Students – March-August only
Join our team of ETS Student Placements and play a vital role in empowering autistic kids to enter classrooms successfully. ETS student placements will support the program by assisting the students, supporting staff, and maintaining the physical space. The program is a group format and will have ratios of 3:1 within the classrooms.
Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Assisting with circle time through engagement and possible musical talents
- Additional supervision for outdoor play
- Disinfecting toys and surfaces so staff can focus on clinical needs
- Assisting with snack time through opening containers and cleaning up
- Cutting out and assembling resources
You will be required to participate in a student placement interview. Once accepted, you’ll complete a Police Record Check and complete a Pre-Employment Medical form. You will also complete a confidentiality agreement, review our code of conduct, and receive Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) training.
In accordance with our mandate, we require completion of our health and safety training.
