Social Time!

Join our Family Support Workers for a social time that the whole family can enjoy!

Social Time is a fun and interactive way for families, teens, parents and kids to connect virtually, discuss ongoing events or participate in different activities and crafts! Facilitated by our Family Support Workers, Kinark offers four types of groups to meet the needs of our children, youth, and their families.

Parent/Caregiver Social Time

Parent social time is designed for parents and caregivers of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sessions provide a safe space for parents to have virtual discussions about challenges they may face, questions they may have or just an opportunity to meet with other parents who can understand their day to day lives. Parenting strategies and experiences will be shared in each session.

Winter 2022

Life After High School

Planning for life after high school can be overwhelming. This session will share information and tips, and discuss options after high school for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Resources for New Diagnosis

Do you have a child who was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We understand this can be overwhelming. Join us for a discussion on information and resources to support next steps.

Free Spring Break Resources and Activities

Are you looking for ideas to help keep your child busy over the spring break? Join this session to learn about the resources and events available during this time.

Self-Care: Managing Burnout

Grab a cup of coffee and join our Family Support Workers for a discussion on self-care and the different ways you can take care of yourself.

Family social time is designed for families of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sessions aim to provide an hour of fun virtually through interactive and engaging activities for the whole family!

Talent Show

Do you have a special talent? It could be a musical talent or some cool dance moves. Join us for a fun session where you can share your talents!

Face Painting Games

Let’s get silly and have fun with some face painting games!

Game Night

Join our Family Support Workers as we host a game night with some family favourites, such as Pictionary, Heads Up, Act it Out and Would You Rather.

Dance Party

Come dance with us! Bring your favourite shoes and dances moves and join us for a virtual dance party.

Magic Show

Bring a family magic trick and show us! We will show you some cool new ones too.

Virtual Escape Room

Do you like solving puzzles and mysteries? Join us for a virtual escape room adventure! This session is recommended for children aged six – 13.

Kid Social Time

Kid social time is designed for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to connect virtually and participate in fun activities such as crafts, show and tell, dance parties and much more. These sessions are recommended for children and youth aged five to 12.

Story Time and Sing Along

Let’s read some of our favourite books! Help us by singing and dancing along with classic tunes.

Sensory Crafts

Join us for fun and easy, hands-on sensory activities you can do at home! Participants will create edible playdough, zip lock paintings and sensory bottles.

Join us for a fun virtual zoo experience! Participants will follow a read along and look at various zoo animals through an interactive experience.

Show and Tell

Do you have something that is special to you and would like to show it to others? Join us for a show and tell! Don’t forget to ask your friends questions about their items too!

Cool Science Experiments

Do you miss fun school science experiments? Join us as we share some cool at home science fun virtually! Science experiments will be emailed in advance so you can have the materials ready and follow along.

Teen Social Time

Teen social time is designed for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to connect virtually and participate in fun and educational activities and discussions. These sessions are recommended for youth aged 12 to 18.

Winter 2022

Virtual Paint and Chill

Do you love painting? Are you looking for a relaxing way to get creative? Come join us as we host a fun paint party where we will paint a special picture, share calming strategies and discuss ways to practice mindfulness. We will be painting the below picture. You will need paint, a paintbrush and a canvas.
