Social Time!
Join our Family Support Workers for a social time that the whole family can enjoy!
Social Time is a fun and interactive way for families, teens, parents and kids to connect virtually, discuss ongoing events or participate in different activities and crafts! Facilitated by our Family Support Workers, Kinark offers four types of groups to meet the needs of our children, youth, and their families.

Parent/Caregiver Social Time
Parent social time is designed for parents and caregivers of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sessions provide a safe space for parents to have virtual discussions about challenges they may face, questions they may have or just an opportunity to meet with other parents who can understand their day to day lives. Parenting strategies and experiences will be shared in each session.

Foundational Family Services and Urgent Response Services
Is your child registered in the Ontario Autism Program (OAP)? Do you want to learn more about Foundational Family Services and Urgent Response Services? Join us for a discussion on how and where you can access these helpful services free of charge.

Family Social Time
Family social time is designed for families of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sessions aim to provide an hour of fun virtually through interactive and engaging activities for the whole family!

Pizza Making – In person!
This in-person family social time is designed for families of children with ASD and their siblings to participate in a pizza making activity. This event allows your child to connect face-to-face with peers while getting in touch with their creative side!

Date: Monday, July 17, 2023
Times: 3 to 4:30 pm (families with children aged 5 to 10) and 5 to 6:30 pm (families with children aged 11 to 17)
If interested, please complete the interest form. A Kinark staff will call you for a free eligibility screening, to review the requirements of the social and determine if your child meets the safety guidelines for the event before accepting your registration. Spots are limited so register today!

Lego Building Fun – In person!
Time to use your imagination and creativity on a Lego building adventure! Register by August 2 and the join us in-person at our Markham office to build Lego creations with other families. Additional details for pick up will be provided upon registration.

Insect Habitat
Did you know that insects are adaptable creatures that live in almost every habitat on Earth? Register by August 11 to receive a free insect habitat kit in the mail and then join us virtually to make it with other families. Additional details about your free kit will be provided upon confirmation of attendance.

Autumn Paint Night
Does your family enjoy painting? Grab your paint brushes and paper and join us virtually for some creative fun with other families!

Invite the entire family to join us for a virtual game night! Go head-to-head with other families with fun and friendly games.

Kid Social Time
Kid social time is designed for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to connect virtually and participate in fun activities such as crafts, show and tell, dance parties and much more. These sessions are recommended for children and youth aged five to 12.

Teen Social Time
Teen social time is designed for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to connect virtually and participate in fun and educational activities and discussions. These sessions are recommended for youth aged 12 to 18.

The Five Senses
We use our senses to gather and respond to information about our environment, which aids our survival. Each sense provides different information which is combined and interpreted by our brain. Which sense is dominant varies between different animals, as well as which is the most sensitive. This session will provide information on the five senses and how they are used in daily life.

Sibling Game Night
Bring your sibling to game night! Work with your sibling as a team and face other families in virtual games. Compete against other friends with siblings, bring your thinking cap and let’s have some fun! Remember to work together and cheer everyone on.

Magic Night
Join us for an evening of fun magic tricks! Bring a cool trick of your own and we will show you some new ones too.
