As children age and experience different stages of growth, it is important to begin to teach skills related to both health and sexuality. In this session we explore the topics of health, awareness of sexuality, privacy, and consent. We also discuss how to utilize the principals of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to promote independence and generalization of skills related to these topics.
Discussion of these topics, as well as ways of teaching them is important as these are core components of human development. As a parent or caregiver, it is important to teach children with special needs to take good care of their own health and to address their sexuality.
This workshop is designed to provide preliminary information and strategies to support you and your child in introducing some of these vital early learning skills.
