We are the educators behind the educators!
Kinark offers a wide selection of customized virtual and on-site training offerings tailored for individuals in educational institutions. At Kinark, we take our role as the educators behind the educators very seriously. For over 20 years, Kinark Child and Family Services has supported the Connections for Students program, offering targeted consultative services that support the successful transition of a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) into and/or within the public school system. Kinark consultants work collaboratively with caregivers, school staff, community service providers, and the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) service provider (if applicable) to identify transition goals, implement behavioural strategies, and collect data to monitor the child’s progress. Kinark has been working collaboratively with French, English, Public and Catholic school boards within York, Durham and Simcoe regions, in supporting kids transition back into the classroom. Working with the Ministry, Kinark is the only agency that provides this critical service in Simcoe, York and Durham regions and the Four Counties (Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Peterborough).
Kinark’s support of educational institutions is crucial to ensuring that teachers across Ontario feel empowered and are informed by leading research and best practices as they support their students and the children and youth with complex needs within their classrooms. At Kinark, we believe that we achieve more together, and these partnerships allow for high-quality care and learnings to permeate the education system, reaching children at an early age.
Kinark’s partnerships with educational institutions are extensive. Our connections in the world of education ranges from providing clinical supervision to support Registered Behaviour Technicians (RBTs) within the Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grandes Rivières French Catholic school board, to developing continuing education units through trusted training provider BDS, to running the After School Skills Development program supporting children and youth with social skills groups in the Simcoe-Muskoka Catholic District School Board, as well as the Kawartha Pineridge District School Board. Recently, Kinark also provided support and training to educators by creating and delivering a package of virtual educator training modules on a range of topics related to supporting students with ASD.
In a field that sees regular advancement and constant progress, we strive to maintain our position at the forefront of research and development, ensuring that the information and practical sessions we provide are always up-to-date and well-informed.
